We’re One Month Away…
…from our first rainout of the season. I don't know what our average on-time opening day is, but it's about as reliable as a week-old Yugo. A Yugo was like owning a shedding dog, except it's parts you brushed off. I'm wondering if we had a Yugo day, if one would show up. It might be the last remaining and need a push to come in… and a broom.
Speaking of coming in, the biggest single complaint we get from spectators is participants showing up then leaving early. We're cracking down on that. It's a two hour show. Don't tell me this is about bowel control either. We can see your face and it doesn't look like you're clinching so knock it off. Show up, hang for two hours then go. Check with us ahead of time if you must leave early and we will guide you to a spot near the exit so we can easily get you out so you look less embarrassing to everyone else.
What some don't realize is that when you do leave early, according to a recent survey, 99.64% of us think you're doing it for attention and to prove you can drive a car without your mom. Less than a half a percent think you actually have to go poop. What we should do is walk you out with a sign that says "I have to poop right now!" That may solve the problem. It's a creative solution and it might just work. Maybe you have to make it to the dust parade in Fresno.
Seriously, no, sort of seriously, leaving early is a problem for people, so please pitch in and don't.
It's hard to believe we will be back at it in just four weeks. We need more volunteers this season because we're going to be doing a lot more mini events. What we just posted in events on Facebook is just the big stuff. Little stuff will still be in the horseshoe. We're all real busy now getting so many small details ready to go. I still plan to make opening day assuming it doesn't fall on a Saturday when I have to be at another event. When I am there, please come up and say hello and tell us how we can improve things and how your mom is doing.
