Slow and low
That is the tempo of our mini theme this week. That’s right folks, we are on for this weekend! Mother Nature is giving our team at Thug Weather Center 1 a nice, stress-free couple of weeks. Probably a good thing because we don’t let them out much, kind of like Severance but without the brain-washy stuff. Don’t worry; we give them all the free Jolt soda and jerky they could want. That’s right, I said Jolt; they’ve been down there a while. Vic told me since the 90s. Must be why we still receive that Netscape disc in the mail. Guess we should upgrade their equipment. Enough about the weather and things that I blame sleepless nights on. Thank you to everyone who came out to see the show, and much appreciation to all the drivers for bringing out their Rad rides for Retro Day!
We had a ton of fun last week hanging out with everyone and seeing some amazing cars! Seriously, have you ever seen that many NSXs in one place?? It was crazy seeing them rolling up to the gate. It got Kristoff thinking we were getting invaded, and I learned something: his natural fight-or-flight reaction is to grow wings…just sayin😉. Great group of enthusiasts, and we can’t thank you enough for showing up in force. We appreciate the effort y’all put in to arrive together; it makes things easier for placement. This goes for the other groups of model enthusiasts who did the same! Not to mention it is so fun to see a line of Typhoons and Cyclones driving in, followed by a line of DeLoreans, doors up, then three or four absolutely sick Lambos... Pro-tip for you photog types: this is a great way to get those awesome shots of the cars driving (gates open between 7:45-8 AM on a normal day, cars are in line starting at 7). We hope everyone was able to see that one that got away or see that dream car in person and relive that excitement. I know I did when the Renault Alpine came in🤩.
This week, however, we want to celebrate the cars that you form a true bond with. An until death do us part type of bond. We want those Thelma to your Louise, Little Engine that Could, whatever location or bust, “slow” cars. We are looking for awesome air-cooled VWs, vintage Minis, Sprites, 80’s SLs, 77 Firebirds, and 70’s land yachts (we all know they were <200 HP carrying a load of metal that would make an ant jealous) for our mini theme in the horseshoe this weekend. Naturally, your car needs to meet our criteria. If you have a question, hit us up via email, and please include a pic. This helps us with our consideration, so we can load it into our new AI tool, where we run a Roman Coliseum simulator: if the lions don’t eat you, thumbs up. Kidding, it can change from no to a one-and-done, or yes, for these theme days only. We are a very reasonable group provided with the right bribe. Wait, did I say bribe??! I meant “process” is followed. We also need your car in “show” or “presentation” condition. We had some cars last week that were dirtier than that Richard Pryor album I found at a tender age. We would much rather have you come in with some water spots vs a week’s worth of commuting PPF on your car.
We can’t tell y’all how much we appreciate all the awesome people who support us weekly and remind us why we love doing this. This is a normal lot week, so there won’t be any cars in Center, but the mini theme in the horseshoe promises to be interesting. The gates open at 8, but as always, we recommend getting in line between 7 and 8 on a normal day. See y’all there, and for those of you bringing cars for the mini theme, set that alarm early😉!
