Opening Day Is…
Thanks for coming to opening day!
(Someone just spat their juice box all over their screen.)
No, we haven't had opening day yet, but good news! The 29th is looking really good right now, so whatever you're rubbing, keep rubbing it. And whatever you're not rubbing, don't until after Saturday. We don't want to jinx it. You can make it a week. We won't make our final call on whether we're on or not until later in the week, but right now, it's looking like a very nice opening day.
Our first day each season is unique because we have so many cars to accommodate in a very short time, and we also see more new faces. It's best to arrive early, and we will do all we can to get cars in and settled. This will be a huge day, and we ask a few favors to help us speed up the line.
First, check the entrance map and familiarize yourself with it more than you would a hot date, so you understand the flow. This will save a lot of yelling, both inside and outside the car.
Once you're in line, stay with your car at all times if you're there before we open. Nothing messes things up like someone walking over to get coffee. You may even get towed, so please don't leave your car.
When you get to the entrance, keep the conversation brief. It's not the time to show off your foot surgery. We will get you assigned to a lot and across the intersection as fast as we can.
PLEASE look at the map if you're unfamiliar with our entrance, so you're not holding up traffic. We make it all as easy as possible, but we do need you to follow the flow on Bear Creek. Come in from west to east; don't get cute and cut in. If you do, we send you to the back of the line. Argue with us and we deny you entry.
If you think your car may overheat, let us know. Have someone ride with you and let us know if it's happening. We'll figure something out. For those of you who get mad when we let someone in, we will always deal with overheating cars as fast as we can. Sometimes we pull a car to solve a display issue of some kind. Just be patient.
Don't forget, we close the gate at 10:00 AM, and as usual, we will be full by then. It's a safety issue for us, so don't move cones to get in. That will get you banned. If there is a line still at 10, you will get in, assuming we don't run out of room, but we usually do.
If you leave early, we note that and move to the far end next time. Again, safety. Stay until 11 and everyone’s happy.
We are working to dramatically speed up entrance times, but we'll need your help. No cutting in line either. We'll tell your mom and post your photo. The whole spirit of E@RTC is to have fun, so making friends and being polite will go a long way toward a long-lasting and rewarding friendship with someone.
We do immediately and permanently ban bad behavior. You’ll be like the individual escorted off the plane when everyone claps. There is no "three strikes" policy; if you behave badly, you don't get to come back, ever.
We have too much riding on our being great ambassadors for car enthusiasts everywhere, and we ban those narcissists who want to ruin it for everyone just to get a little attention. Nope, everyone just sees you as a jerk, so don't be that individual. Show the world you have it together.
For spectators who don’t know where to park, the parking structures on the north and west side are good. There is usually plenty of room.
We will make our final call on Thursday at 3:00 PM as usual, but right now, it's looking good for the 29th. We will see you there!
