Darn it! More…
…rain! Yes, we're rained out again for April 22, and we'll try again next week if the weather is decent. This is like last year, only the same.
As usual, we still get that snarky dude who takes shots at us for calling it when the rain isn't falling right where they are standing. We make our careful decision based on what NOAA tells us, and they sometimes get it wrong.
Our suggestion before you write us and tell us how disappointed you are in how we were raised, or what is was like with our moms the night before, is that you set an appointment to speak to the manager at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. At the appropriate time, drive on over, walk in, patiently wait for your appointment, introduce yourself, and please don't forget to tell them why you're important, then have your tantrum about our rainout. When they see you are serious, they will jump right on it, get all new meteorology gear, and report exactly what you want, and we will make a statue in your honor and sing.
The truth is, after that meeting, you will more likely have to dig the wedgie out of your butt crack on the way back to your car, or depending on who's working, have to crawl out of a dumpster, or both, but you never know. You may even end up in your car smoldering for all we know. Weather folks can be a tough bunch. Who knows, they may even hire you to prepare the weekly forecast. Then after your missed forecast, someone else who canceled their Hello Kitty parade because of unexpected rain will throw you in the dumpster instead.
Truth be told, people have been thrown in the dumpster over bad weather forecasts since cave dwellers woke up in the mud on Tarantula Tuesdays. None of this is new. Every president who's ever given a speech on a rainy day has tossed someone in a dumpster over a bad forecast. Even kings did it, except you were in pieces and your head was on a stick. None of this detracts us. We just wait for good weather.
We have some news about RTC! It will be a couple of seasons at the soonest before any redevelopment construction begins, so nothing is changing for now. We'll let you know of any alternatives as soon as they happen, but it won't be anytime soon. We love RTC, and it's our home, but we do have alternate plans should something happen, so we're in great shape.
We did get to hear about how we're doing overall for name recognition, and we can't thank you enough for turning E@RTC into a national event that's talked about everywhere. We'd like to go via live feed as cars come in, and we're working on that. It just takes volunteers to manage stuff like that, so stay tuned."
