Saturday, Sept. 5th- we don’t know yet. Will update everyone on Friday before noon on socials and here. We apologize for our complicated relationship with Mother Nature..but let’s be real, it is her, not us.
The weather is always manic in September. We hope there are some Earth, Wind & Fire fans out there and that it brought a smile to your face. Speaking of manic weather and our show this weekend, 9/5/26… It’s complicated. With the Thug Weather Center 1 team on the outs with the old lady, they no longer have access to the dark arts and thus no real influence on the weather. Because they now have to rely on those college degrees from the 90s, they can't lock in a solid forecast. So, the team decided to give our Weather Team one more day to make the call, or the Nakatomi deal is off. So definitely watch our socials on Friday around brunch time, between 10-11~ish AM for updates. Those of you who haven’t experienced the glory of breakfast and lunch served together and washed down with tasty mimosas, please indulge yourselves. We will also send out an email to all y’all and do a quick blog on/off type of update. If you do possess the powers of the dark arts and want to help out with the weather, we'd appreciate it.
Unfortunately, without a show last week, we don’t get to update you on all the beautiful cars and amazing people that support our show; however, we do get to update you on other things. First, we are still planned for British Day next Saturday, Sept 12th, weather permitting, of course, so make sure you are getting those beautiful Brits ready for their big day. Quick reminder: theme days get a little crazy, so while we do our best to move you along, there may be a bit of a queue. Please be patient as we squeeze y’all in. Also, pro-tip: the queue starts early on theme days, so we recommend a 7- 8 a.m. arrival to have a chance at Center and 164th. Wait, I thought Brits were all about waiting in a queue? Isn’t that what they said in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Anyway, we are excited for this last big theme day and do hope the weather is on our side.
Next is JDM Mini Theme Day, scheduled for September 19th and might be a bit bigger than planned. We were originally going to do this on the 12th, but due to British Day sliding and the amount of interest in the JDM Mini Theme Day, we decided a double feature would be a bad experience for all involved, not to mention a traffic nightmare. It would be like our own little I-5 through Seattle Traffic Simulation. Seriously, all of you who make the trek on Saturdays and navigate this, you have our undying respect and adoration for supporting us. Tangent: Relocated here in 2010, swear to all that is holy, this area has been under construction since we got here. Don’t get me wrong, fully support growth, etc., but for hell-damn-sakes, give us a year or two off. Sorry for the tangent; back to JDM. Long story short JDM Mini Theme Day is September 19th. We will post any modifications to the current criteria in support of the mini theme on our socials and will do an extra blog as well.
Before I wrap up, we car guys tend to be nerdy about our hobby and will rattle off terms and acronyms that are common to us but not to the rest of the world. We are sure y’all have gotten that weird look from your wife or girlfriend when you start talking car lingo, and she thinks you’re speaking Klingon. Related to this, a question we get is: what exactly does JDM stand for? While we are not sure what causes they support or non-profits, 😉the acronym stands for Japanese Domestic Market. While this term gets tossed around and applied to any custom Japanese car, the purists consider JDM to refer to cars manufactured in Japan and meeting all standards, laws, requirements, and consumer expectations for the Japanese market. More directly, if it isn’t an import/right hand drive from Japan, it isn’t JDM. That being said, we aren’t going to be that strict, but if your car doesn’t meet the basics of a classic, low-production, rare, or otherwise exotic- yeah, sorry- Subarus and the more common grocery-getter types, it is no. That is just a basic criteria for our show that we hold all other manufacturers to and communicated in our FAQ, so the same will apply to JDM.
