Main gate regulars! I bet you thought we were going to go big... We really do try to keep this PG/PG-13, so sorry to disappoint, but we all know how it sounded in our heads. Seriously, a huge thank you to all the drivers and spectators who came out last weekend. It was a light car-count day, with the weather going through a manic episode, but seeing all your smiling faces and shiny cars brightened our day and inspired us to celebrate y’all with our impromptu Die-Hard mini theme. Every one of you was a John McClane, except for that one Hans Gruber; you may know him as Kristoff- kidding, he just really loves German cars. Even with the lower car count, we still had an Enzo, SF90XX, Revuelto, a gorgeous Mcleran decked out in a crazy purple, GT3s, 4s, 2s, matching Lambo and Mcleran, a classic Ferrari 330 GTC, and the list could go on. Of course, I can’t forget to mention the beautiful Healey, MG, Alfa (spelled right this time, stupid spell check), Datsun, and American muscle we love seeing early every weekend. Y’all unofficially lead the Die-Hard club, and we really appreciate your consistent support. Thank you all again; it was fun to see the best mix of cars and people all together just enjoying life. If Mother Nature’s manic personality kept you away, you did miss a fun hang.
As for this weekend, we have to call it off due to a 56% chance of rain ☹. Yes, unfortunately, the show is off for this weekend. Fear not, we are moving British Day to Saturday, Sept 12th, and hope we have better weather. In related news, the team at Thug Weather Center 1 surprised us all and cut ties with the creepy old lady in the “business park” inside Mt. Rainier. They are currently in talks to move it to a new building in Nakatomi Plaza. They said it should be ready just after Christmas, and the owner even invited them to their 1st annual Christmas party at Nakatomi Towers. Sounds exciting; we will keep you updated. What caused this rift? She swore we would have weather appropriate for British Day. We didn’t realize she had such a twisted sense of humor. Either way, that gives us all some time to polish up those rides and get enough kitty litter to keep center court relatively oil-free.
One more thing. We are teasing a JDM mini theme in the horseshoe. Yes, indeed, we are really planning one. While styles and cultures can differ, there is no denying the next generation of car people are into these cars, and they are popular with all different types of collectors and enthusiasts. People like Colton Amster, some may know him from JDM Supreme or Redline Restorations, are importing JDM race and drift icon cars to the US to preserve, collect, and ultimately rip around the track. His incredible collection, knowledge, and preservation of historically important JDM race and drift cars, including the V12 Supra built by Nagata, Deigo Higa’s Toyota 86, the S15 Silvia D1 GP drift, and so many other icons, is really bringing more focus to JDM cars and their impact on motorsports and car culture all over the world. Unfortunately, he lives in the NE and not the NW, but there are many examples of high-end builds in our area along with period-correct modded imports and well-preserved icons in the genre; remember all those NSXs that showed up for our Rad Theme Day? As the passion for imported JDM cars continues in the US, we feel we need to make room for these at our show. Stay tuned; we will have a date and criteria posted on the socials and here.
