We’re rained out again, but…

…we will delay Classic and Collector day until our next nice weekend. I know, it could be years. We’ve traditionally not had the best luck combining Classic and Collector day with good weather over the years for some reason. I know, this is more disappointing than Milli Vinilli, but not as disappointing as Nickelback.

We hate to call it rained out, and we know the forecasts have not been so accurately lately, but the methods we use, eventually even out. If you want to see the weather forecast as it’s presented to us from NOAA, read what we read on the Thursday afternoon before the event. As we said, we combine this with other sources to get an average for Redmond. Of course, there is always someone who knows more than us, or is better at this, but we still live with ourselves. We know it makes everyone excited about the first nice Saturday.

Hey, speaking of interesting cars, I drove the BMW iX and I liked it a lot, if you’re looking for something completely new and different and all electric. It’s just different and forward-thinking. Still it has a downside. If you want to go anywhere of any distance, you’re going to have to rely on the rapid chargers and that’s a long way away before they are in places of convenience. Nobody has that much time to sit and wait for a Level 2 charger. It’s still a very cool SUV. It was very zippy! The reviews are good too and it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for something unique.

On the subject of cars, we like all cars and don’t take a position on electric versus combustion other than to point out that the solution to lower energy costs are complicated and that electric vehicles get their energy from someplace. Here is an interesting article to put it all in perspective. While the article was written in 2017, the math doesn’t change with age. It’s not like numbers decay over time or anything. It’s worth reading as it covers the complexity. We’re not going to argue with one over the other as we like both and electric exotics are going to be here soon. The point is, electric alone is not feasible without reactors somewhere.

I often read about a new car design as “ugly” such as BMW’s new design language, and that’s often the case for real trendsetters, where it takes time to see the beauty. If this didn’t happen, let’s face it, you’d still be single. I think of the many designs that were once considered ugly and end up starting a whole trend in auto design. The same goes for color. Sometimes something new is hard to accept, not because it looks bad, but because we’re hesitant to change. It’s one thing I love about E@RTC; watching cars evolve over time and we all get a front row seat.

We’ll try again next week for Classic and Collector day. It can’t rain every Saturday.
