We’re On and It’s German Car Day!
This will be a much shorter post, for those who get their lederhosen in a wad over our usual writings. As you can see, the weather is cooperating and so a few things for mutual fun an enjoyment. While the event runs from 9-11, if you’re not there early with your car, you’re screwed. I’d try and be there around 7:30 if you’re a participant, as a spectator, any time is fine. There is plenty of spectator parking around the mall. I don’t think we’ve ever filled the garages.
The event is still open to all cars that meet our criteria listed on the criteria page. Italian, Lithuanian, you name it are all still welcome. The cars too! All brands are still welcome. It’s just that we give the center of the mall and 164th German priority, but the other lots are about the same as before. We do fill up.
The entrance will be like opening day where you come in along Bear Creek. Look at our map for a good example, and people finally have it down, so we don’t do as much yelling as we did in our early years. This is one of our biggest days all season, so expect a lot of cars and big crowds. If you’re a spectator, we suggest the north and west parking structures.
We take bad behavior very serious in and around the show. If we get a police call about your nonsense anywhere in Redmond, you won’t be welcome back. Hard as it is for some to understand, but you’re representing the greater car community at all times. I know some don’t want to read this, but we either keep protecting the event or it’s over. We’re fighting for our event on all fronts from a few who don’t care if it’s destroyed. It’s not much more complicated than that. There are a lot of narcissists with cars these days, but I guess that’s been the case since the chariot, when they did a smoky horse pull out of a castle or something.
For those who want to do their own car show, we’re going to host a Zoom call so you can learn how to put on your own event and see what it’s like first hand. Just write us if you want to attend. I’ll have a link to the event up soon. We’ll support you all the way and walk you through the steps that lead to an event that lasts longer than a ham sandwich. The continuous discussion that happens about other car shows goes something like this, “Hey, did you hear about the new car show they are having at….?” an hour later, “Never mind.”
You modded car folks who show up as spectators have to do a much better job of policing your culture or you won’t be invited or welcome anywhere. Stop trying to argue the point by doing anything you want. You’re badly outnumbered by people who don’t see it your way. You will be constantly harassed and ultimately nothing more than garage queens with fading stickers. Respect the events you attend and that will help keep them going. The better the car culture, the better it is for you. See how those little dots all connect? As we’ve said before, it’s not like we’re asking for a kidney.
Breakfast is now open at the Archer Hotel so you can park and go hang out there a bit. Also, please use the bathrooms at the center court by Starbucks. See you Saturday!
