Well Crap…

…it’s going to rain on Saturday, so we’re officially rained out for Saturday, June 21. We’re also unofficially rained out as well. Either way, we’re still rained out.

We had a good German Car day with lots of happy people, happy cars, and just generally happy everything. We love that. It’s what we’re about! The whole idea is to put on the best Saturday show possible. We do everything in our power to not be like Fresno.

We still have a lot of special events coming up, so check that page and check the newsy. We also have some surprises that we’re trying to squeeze in, depending on weather, etc. Some special cars won’t be able to make it until the last minute, so we won’t be able to post what’s coming in all situations.

I’d also like to take this time to shout out to our amazing volunteers who worked the German Car event and are there every Saturday with good cheer. We get some people who don’t seem to understand that these people are there to contribute to the greater good of the community. They do this out of love!

Someone asked me how John L. Scott had a table at E@RTC and yet they can’t have one. That’s easy. They are a tenant of RTC, and we’re there to support all tenants of RTC, so come see what these tenants have to offer! We will be glad to support any other tenant of RTC because they are always wonderful to us, and to you. We hope that we’re able to help all tenants and everyone who supports us in the community to the extent we can. We otherwise don’t support commercial booths from everyone selling chutney or some other damn thing. We get that request at least once a week.

Speaking of support, we’re still trying to figure out how to best support other car shows around the Pacific Northwest that don’t interfere with our time slot. Some get frustrated when they can’t get a high turnout at their show, and we’re more than happy to share what we’ve done, but it isn’t like this just happened overnight. Building a show is not cheap or easy, like your last date. It took time, effort, and a lot of early promotions that were expensive, and it was a full-time effort to get us off the ground. While we initially just showed up in a corner, it wasn’t long before we poured money into building and branding our event. What we do love is that there are so many things for an exotic and rare car owner to do around Puget Sound. It seems like everyone has a drive going somewhere.

To me, the best drives are nothing but a defined destination with a small group. The accordion effect of too many cars and mass police blockades are not so fun, but agree to meet somewhere at a general time, and I want to be there as long as the destination can accommodate the group. Sit-down restaurants don’t like big groups showing up, and we found ourselves unwelcome a few times. Some car people have bad reputations, and it impacts everyone. We sort of know who they are.

The German Car Day crew! Thank you for all you do!
