It was down to the wire this week..
We are ON for Saturday, Sept 12th! (9:00AM to 11:00 AM) Gates for Drivers open at 7:30-ish AM. Weather is looking good in the AM!
Hey y’all! Yeah, you guessed it: we have another nail-biter this week with the weather. Because we want to ensure we give the Brits their day we waited until the last minute to make the call. We have been in constant contact with the Thug Weather Center 1 team this week, and they are pretty stressed out. When they weren’t shouting, “What do you want us to do!?” “Well, what do you expect?! You know where we live!” generally followed by an angry slam of the Green Phone, they told us the forecast is cloudy and ok in the AM with T-showers in the PM. This is really similar to last week, just without the promise of sun, so we are going to roll the dice and hope they land twice, see still rhymin, all that to say… we are on for this Saturday, Sept 12th, for British Day!! There could be a few sprinkles in the surrounding areas, but I don’t think a few drops of rain ever scared a British car. Btw...Cellphones really robbed us of the satisfaction of forcefully slamming the receiver down. This was the ultimate display of microaggression and therapy our parents taught us when hanging up on that annoying salesperson calling at dinner time. Now back to business..
Thank y’all for coming out last weekend and hanging on to the final moment for the on/off call. It was a tight one, and while that isn’t something we like to do, the gamble paid off! The weather was great, and all went well, just like a normal weekend; however, we use the term “normal” loosely, as y’all know we never know what surprises might show up, especially after car week. To start things off, we had a gorgeous yellow MC20 and, only a few steps away, a beautifully spec’d Ferrari 12Cilindri parked in tandem with its German garage mate. Seriously, if you didn’t see this one, it was spec’d amazingly. The interior was adorned in a buttery-smooth suede leather and Alcantara that looked like it was just waiting to wrap you in its soft, buttery goodness and keep you cozy as you let the naturally aspirated V12 provides you with all the therapy you could need, and the color, OMG, was it on point! We had a few V8s hiding in some MGs in front of BJs and directly across an incredible Chevy Nomad in tandem with a mean-looking Camaro. Then, turn around, and right there in a perfect photo lineup, a Ferrari Daytona (yes, real), with a 296 Speciale right behind it. Aside from those callouts, we had a great collection of classics and exotics, including a few Rolls-Royces that were nice enough to allow us all to get some pics and experience the luxury they offer. Then there was the surprise, and again, no clue they were showing up- a Porsche 918, a Porsche Carrera GT, and a Gunther Werks Porsche that, in our eyes, was perfectly spec’d, and guess what? It IS the car that Randy Probst set the record in. Yeah…pretty freaking cool for a “normal” day. It just goes to show you never know what can show up, so make sure you are there for British Day. Never know what might show up.
As we said, make sure you are there this weekend, Saturday, Sept 12th, for British Day. This is the last big theme show of the year and never disappoints. We get to see amazing Astons, Austins, TR6s, MGs, McLarens, Bentleys, Rolls, Jags, Minis, and all the other awesome Brits. PSA: please be aware of any kitty litter absorbing those oil leaks as you walk around. It is always a fun day: great cars and amazing people. Don’t miss out!

1.) Yes, we are on this weekend, Sept 12th, for British Day, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Drivers, the line starts a bit early on theme days; you know the drill: try to get in line 7:30 to 8:00 AM for that shot at center/164th street. Pending staged traffic gates for drivers may open at 7:30.
2.) Last week was a great show with some great surprises if you were square and not there: 918, Carrera GT, Gunther Werks (record-setting btw), 12Cilindri, MC20, 296 Speciale, Ferrari Daytona, and a host of other amazing cars and owners.
3.) We can never express how grateful we are to all of you who support us weekly and bring out those amazing dream cars to share with other enthusiasts and spectators. Without you, we are just a bunch of bright green-shirt enthusiasts creepily hanging out in parking lots. Seriously, thank you.
