Same old winter...and an update.

I was just thinking that by the time we resume, you’ve all had a full two years to fatten up. I can’t wait to see what everyone looks like. It seems like every year we order larger jackets. I’m not kidding. It’s getting so every jacket has at least one X.

We’re eager to get started once again. We promise to be better than ever. We are working on the new website and plan to make it faster and lighter. It’s turned out to be a massive task because we have a lot to copy over and we want it to be more visually interesting.

Everyone wants to know when we’re going to resume with something. The real reason some want to know is they need adequate notice to Jenny Craig the hell out of those last few weeks before we start. Some of you can’t get in or out of your exotic without popping a seam or making a bad noise. None of us want to see or hear it either.

I’ve not been posting much because with the lockdowns, and bad weather, it’s not like we can go anywhere and not stand in the rain. Go for a drive and good luck finding a bathroom. Not good if you ingested a medically unadvised quantity of fiber that morning. You’ll quickly lower your expectations and wish for a simple private patch of woods far from the laughter of your friends.

We know that there are “cars and coffee” style gatherings going on around Puget Sound, but they violate the governor’s mandates when they are gatherings of 50 or more and the landlords that allow it, and know it. We don’t want to get anyone in trouble, especially Redmond Town Center. Some of you both complain to us about our lack of taking COVID seriously, then go to those events at the same time. We want to resume as fast as we can. We all want to start our season.

So what are our plans?

We’re still going to shoot for an early April opening if we can, and hopefully April 3. Because these mandates are not grounded in any science, we’re stuck with the political whims of those in charge and who knows what they will do next. That means anything could happen and no, we don’t believe the data, but we’re just rolling with it.

So, if we can’t open first week in April, we’re going to do something else and open up to a big giant Zoom call where everyone can get on and say hello, ask questions, yell about something and just see where it goes. It will still be fun.

We’ve not set any drive destinations yet because everything has been so locked down. Drive to rural areas, and you see a lot of permanently boarded up places, so it could be a long time before we’re back to some state of economic normal. The Maltby Cafe has been dangerously close to shutting down for good. So are many other favorites. Get out there and support the Maltby Cafe and other places if you can.

We are going to open up some rooms on Clubhouse once more of you join. Because they are set up by invitation only, it’s just too soon so we’re give it them then do something to make it fun. It’s just not a realistic platform for us just yet. It will get there.

We will also resume the photo shoot and get that wrapped up as soon as see some clear weather to get it done. Meanwhile, now that we’re into the new year expect more word from us about what’s next.
