Less than two weeks to go…
…before we’re rained out.
Wut?
Some don’t get that joke. We’re typically rained out opening day and it gets pushed to sometime in late April. We’ve had seasons where we get into May before we start. Heck, we missed all of 2020 as we “flattened the curve.” Remember that? I remember when flattening the curve meant signing up for shitty food at Jenny Craig.
As we’ve grown over the years, keeping our show running smoothly has required us to do more work. It’s been a lot to ask of our volunteers and we like to have enough that we don’t burn anyone out each season. We have the same team this year, but we could always use more help. It’s not just day-of-the-event stuff. We need help with behind the scenes activities as well; like helping us with gear, or email about car qualifications. If you’re interested in volunteering, just write us at info@exoticsat.com and someone will write you back, we promise.
We have our special event days and those will go up on our site in the coming hours. Some always complain about the dates we pick conflicting with another event somewhere, but it’s nearly impossible to make everyone happy, even if we handed out puppies.
There is a lot of work that goes into each Saturday morning show and we typically have about twenty good Saturdays each season and each Saturday is a little different, especially as we get special cars and events to weave into the schedule. That’s a lot when you think about it. Other car shows are once a year or once a month, but we do it every nice Saturday. We’d love to give our volunteers a little more time off.
We’ve also earned a reputation as the gold standard of well run weekly car shows, and we want to live up to that standard and keep improving. We think about how to keep the reputation strong, the event well liked in the community and so it continues to be an international draw. Car shows are dwindling around the US because of a few bad participants or spectators and we fight that, by placing a lot of time and energy into not just safety, but also protecting the event. We’ve said it a lot, these things are fragile and it’s the volunteers that are the backbone of sustaining our events.
We also want to also give a giant thanks to Redmond Town Center and Fairbourne Properties for supporting us once again. Please thank the store managers at Redmond Town Center for their support too. Please spend a little money there when you come to E@RTC as they all took a big hit during COVID and we’d love to see them all do well. Take your significant other to RTC! Splurge on a some drums for your apartment!
See you soon, real soon!
