July 9-Our First Annual Invisible Show
You’re not going to believe this, but after practicing this trick for years, we’ve finally perfected the first ever invisible, absolutely no-cool-cars-to-see-here car show on July 9. Just to prove that we’re not fooling around, let’s show you some actual proof. Here are the photos from our rehearsal. As you can see it’s completely not amazing!
We even caused David Copperfield to cry like a little kid who fell off his bike. If you make it out, we guarantee you, that you will see so little of anything, you will be talking about it for weeks, and how annoyed you are because you drove all the way from Gorst.
Not only will there be no cool cars, but none of the usual people either! Sure, you may see a car or two who didn’t read the announcement, assume we’re visible, or flunked reading comprehension all together, but we have this down and the laugh’s on them. They instead will see fine automobiles imported directly from Safeway.
For fun, bring a chair and watch those who fit the above come into the lot with complete astonishment on their face! They may even try and park as if we’re visible! Bring popcorn! Tell them everyone is just running late.
Just so you know we didn’t fake it, here is another photo from a different angle. See???? Cool huh?
In its place around the mall will be the annual Redmond Town Center Art Festival. Where anyone named Art is celebrated by all their friends who like the name Art. Art will be everywhere. If you like Art, this is the place…for Art and art.
Just so you know, you’re probably going to see a lot of wooden stuff glued together all varnished to look nice…probably something painted with a wolf, and little things hanging for sale with a lot of beads. Some dude is always selli’n chutney. You will probably see a painting of a vase…when a real vase would do, a spoon holder carved out of bone. Someone will draw with chalk somewhere. You may even see a chain saw carving of a bear standing on its hind legs to greet you. Not that it happens in real life. If a bear is standing on its hind leges in front of you, it’s because you’re its next blow-up doll. That’s a little tip from a park ranger.
Speaking of wood, to the person who showed up driving a woody and gave our volunteers all Starbucks gift cards, thank you so much. That was extremely generous of you and our volunteers were thrilled to get the personal thank you. It’s a tough job and our people do it with good cheer. Thank you from everyone!
We also have another invisible show coming up in August. That’s when everyone says, “screw-it,” we’re going to Monterey instead. That will be our last invisible show for the year. If you’ve never been to Monterey for car week, you don’t know what you’re missing, or maybe you do.
We also have Italian Car Day coming up the following week; on July 16 for those of who can’t add July 9 plus 7 days. That’s probably our second biggest event all season next to opening day. You can also keep an eye on this blog for the latest updates in case it’s rained out.
Sir Mix-A-Lot
By the way, I got to see our own Sir Mix-A-Lot perform in Iowa as he was touring the Midwest. What a great performance! If you see tour dates anywhere, go. Really! Go! It’s worth it to see him live. Anthony has been a part of E@RTC from the very beginning, and we’ll never forget the fun we had making the Carz video, some of which was shot at E@RTC. Most of it was shot down in Kent at Crest Air Park where we rented out the whole airfield. We wouldn’t even let planes land unless someone had to pee.
Anthony has been one of the best participants and always a great part of who we are. More importantly, you’ve all been wonderful about letting him show up, blend in, and just be a car guy like the rest of us. His show is super-fun from end to end. You won’t be able to sit still, I promise.
The only reason you’ve not seen him lately is because he’s been on the road for a while now, but he will be back soon. Thanks Mix for all you’ve done for us over the years, and we miss the hell out of you.
See you all on Italian Car Day! We won’t see you on Saturday the 9th.
