It’s going to be…
…another beautiful Saturday in Redmond, and we’re meeting in our regular lot. Call it a regular day in our regular lot. This is more exciting than the bathroom line at a chili cook-off! We’re expecting another outstanding turnout as we move into the middle of summer when we expect it to be nice most Saturdays.
We had a wonderful Italian Car Day with lots of spectators from far and wide. There was a minimum of incidents on leaving, but there is one yellow Gillardo that won’t be welcome back. That’s two for two on the Lamborghini front. It’s a shame but some people were not raised past window-licking stage.
We did have an issue where a dealer put QR codes in their cars and that’s not allowed. They didn’t even ask first, if you’re wondering why it happened. We were on it as soon as we found out.
We have an agreement with Redmond Town Center that there will be no “for sale” signs or promo signs in cars of any kind, not direct or indirect, and for that matter, no advertising of any kind on any cars. It’s complicated, and you don’t want me to write a novel here. We still have a gray area with some race cars, but we’re walking a finer line than the Wallendas.
We don’t allow booths, flyers, or the selling of anything, even if that person next to you is so annoying you want to hit them with a shovel in their sleep, you still can’t sell them either. This is a car show, not a pop-up car lot. We’d love to see you sell lots of exotics, as it builds a healthier ecosystem of participants, but it just can’t be here. We don’t sell puppies either, no matter how cute.
Another thing, we don’t allow shoving selfie sticks inside of cars. We don’t allow selfie sticks shoved inside anything now that I think about it. Seems like a good rule, not that we’re out to make more rules, or give that a whole lot more thought.
I should someday list all the stuff we’ve turned down from sellers over the years. Flyers on cars will get you kicked out immediately. A good way to not sell a product ever it so put a flyer on a windshield anywhere. It doesn’t matter what it is, even if it’s a lost grandma. People hate stuff on their cars.
Oh, and for those who get confused by our special events, we now resume our normal Saturdays in the south east corner of Redmond Town Center until September 10, when we have British Car Day. Until then, it should all be smooth sailing in our corner.
We have another invisible show on August 20th, and other than the threat of rain during the remainder of the year, we should be holding steady for a while. We usually get this long streak of nice weather and we think it’s now trending in that direction, then sometimes in September it all falls apart like prom night.
We still never see the same stuff over and over at E@RTC. We’re always surprised by what shows up, also like prom night, now that I think about it. You’d think by now that we’ve seen everything, but no. Something still comes out that nobody has seen before, so come on out and have some fun! Talk cars, have some laughs! See you Saturday!
