And, it’s another…
…great Saturday for E@RTC. The weather will be wonderful and of course, same with the cars and people who attend. We’re in the south east corner of Redmond Town Center again, and will be until September for our last theme day. It’s nice to be back in our regular Saturday morning groove where it’s much easier to manage and it’s easier to get you all in and landed in your spots.
Thank you Kirk Shroyer for the donation of $150.00 to the volunteers for coffee last week. Everyone appreciated it, and the volunteers do an amazing job of getting everyone landed with a minimum of fuss. They must have looked like they really needed it.
We also want to thank all of the participants who come out every Saturday with their amazing cars. When you’re an owner, it’s easy to forget what it’s like to not be an owner while so many love what you get to drive every day. I know I dreamed about owning an exotic for a long time before I bought my first. Those rare and exotic cars are a delight to so many. I also dreamed about a lot of stuff I shouldn’t mention here.
A few times a year, I take a look at our online stats to see how we’re doing. I’m forever amazed by how many people come to our site from all over the world who don’t get to see what you all do every Saturday.
We do nothing to promote our site or try and get a bigger web audience because we’re all about the events of every Saturday morning. Still, it’s nice to see how many enthusiasts there are who follow what we do from all over the world. People come back to our site again and again and keeps growing in size and scope. Over the years, we’ve moved from a local to an international event, drawing cars and spectators from everywhere.
We’re grateful that so many of you read the blog and while we know it may annoy some, we’re never going to be for everyone and we have no plans to become PC. That’s how you make a shitty product; try and make it for everyone. As it is, cars can often project an image, and sometimes it’s negative, and so this site has always been dedicated to making it about the fun with cars, as it should be at all times.
Yeah, we will always be fussy about safety and protecting our event, but unless we do that, we could be dreaming about the days when we existed. The blog is a weekly hint to enjoy life and not take things too seriously.
This is driving season and in spite of gas prices, get out and do those road trips. Meet up with your buds at E@RTC then go driving somewhere. We have a remarkable country to explore.
I was out on a recent road trip and visited Top of the Rock south of Branson, Missouri. They have an extraordinary portrait gallery of incredible old photographs of Native American Chiefs from the late 1800s to the 60s. One was an amazing photo of Chief Red Sack… No, I have no idea if he road bareback a lot.
What the museum illustrated was the amazing artistry of native Americans and the attention to detail. It’s worth the visit and you will come out with a real appreciation of their heritage. Big Cedar Lodge at Top of the Rock is without a doubt one of America’s most amazing resorts.
This week I’m at the Experimental Air Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, which is the world’s biggest air show. It’s where I first saw the Ford GT when it was first revealed before it was available to the publc. Exotic cars both on display and via their own wheels make it to the air show every year as sort of a road trip destination as people explore the US. If you’ve never been, it should be on your bucket list. Between 10 and 15,000 airplanes show up every year. No, it’s not a typo.
If you’ve never heard it, there is absolutely nothing like the sound of a P51 Mustang flying by with that Packard V-1650 Merlin V12 engine in full roar producing as much as 1,400 HP at 400 MPH. It will give you more chills than COVID after a night of drinking with that swamp donkey you found at the bar.
A giant thanks to all of you who have supported E@RTC all these years. Your participation has meant the world to all of us who are dedicated to this event. We couldn’t do it without you. See you all Saturday.
