We’re about to take…
…a break from our usual Saturday morning after this Saturday, August 13, and of course, we’re on, so come on out! The weather should be beautiful! We don’t get a lot of this. Soon it will be rainy fall and you’ll all be thinking about what to do inside, like making soup.
Just a reminder, we have another invisible car show on August 20 because of car week in Monterey and we won’t have enough volunteers or participants on that day to put on a good show. It’s become a tradition that we take that Saturday off every year. Hey, it’s a better tradition than that first-day-freshman-wedgie you got in high school. The smaller you were, the more likely you were to walk home with your underwear stretched over your head.
If you’ve never been to Monterey for car week, we can’t recommend it enough. Pile in the car and drive down the coast. Stop when you see all the cool cars. Sure, you will see a lot of what you see every week at E@RTC, but it’s still one of the really wonderful car events in the US. It’s not just one thing, it’s lots of shows and one of the big shows is locally owned! Many of the judges and participants are right here from the Northwest so you will run into people you know, especially if you attend the car parade at Carmel-by-the-Sea.
People dress up for this. It’s sort of like a wedding except no weird dancing.
On August 20 we also get a chance to give our volunteers a break during nice weather. This is a very dedicated group of people who give up a lot of hours to make our event run smoothly, and they do it with good cheer.
We did have a few cars behave badly this past week and are now banned. One was unfortunately a yellow SV and a white LC500 driven by window lickers who don’t respect the event. This guy probably thinks a charcuterie board is something women sit on in a sauna.
We don’t fool around with our bans. We catch you behaving badly and you’re just not welcome back. There is no point in asking for forgiveness. We treat you like a raging STD.
If you’re too dumb to notice we track the cars going up and down Bear Creek, you’re too dumb to make Jello, and if you’re too dumb to make Jello, you’re too dumb to get in. As we keep saying, our low tolerance for bad behavior is the only way we keep this event going. We don’t give you a warning either. We tried all that before.
People love E@RTC and we’re going to do all we can to protect our event for the enjoyment of everyone else. We’ll say it every week if we have to. We’re not going to be like those bad parents on the airplane that let their little bastards raise hell the whole flight. Discipline people!
We resume our normal schedule after Monterey, then we have British Car Day on September 10. That’s our last big event of the season, then we go back to our regular lot for the remainder of our shows which wrap up around the first or second week in October. Come out! Have some laughs, see cool cars and shop at Redmond Town Center. Thanks to everyone who helps us make this a great event.
