Well, we’re going to call it…
…a rain check for April 1, 2023, everyone! We're aiming for next Saturday, provided the rain probability stays low. Though we typically go ahead with a 30% chance, we want Opening Day to be especially delightful. It's akin to a great first day at work where you don't get fired. We just need a day that doesn't disappoint in the slightest.
Our Philosophy Explained
At Exotics at Redmond Town Center, we pride ourselves on being a community-driven event, similar to a lively dance of fat guys in the park. We're not in it for monetary gain; our focus is on having a good time. However, we occasionally face pressures to change our identity, be it due to our criteria, business-related interests, or someone trying to make the event about themselves. Our commitment to you remains steadfast, no matter what, however a good joke will always come first.
Although we have many supporters, we also face pressures from those who'd like to take over our role. Our lack of profit motive partially constitutes our secret sauce. As volunteer gatekeepers, we strive to preserve our creation without selling anything except you coming out and having some fun.
Redmond Town Center benefits from our presence, which is fair since they provide the space and it boosts their business. We can never thank them enough. Besides that, our volunteers are there for one reason: to put on the best possible show out of their love for cars and the joy of seeing you all have a blast. It's a simple mission, really. Preserving it takes effort.
We're always happy to help our volunteers and supporters, but sometimes we face pressures that attempt to take us away from our original spirit. Maintaining this careful balance takes up a lot of unseen volunteer time, and we only discuss it when we need to take a stand. We remain vigilant about our responsibility to all of you and are determined to preserve our roots, and all in good humor. Think of us as a restaurant that constantly strives to meet your expectations while continually improving. Think the opposite of Taco Bell.
We'll keep doing this as long as you keep coming. If there are too many events, we'll reevaluate our mission, but until then, we'll keep searching for ways to enhance the experience, so you always leave thinking how fun that was.
Brands begin with the founders, but they eventually belong to the consumers. The company then becomes the steward of the brand for the loyal customers. Notable brand disruption failures, like New Coke, Gap, Tropicana, Netflix's Qwikster, RadioShack, Kodak, and Blackberry, occurred because the companies forgot that the consumer owns the brand.
Our brand has always been about enjoying a Saturday morning with cars. It's never been about pretentiousness, class, egos, formality, or anything similar. It's always been about car enthusiasts having a good time, sharing a laugh, and connecting with like-minded individuals. This simple concept lies at the heart of our mission.
We'll continue to evolve based on your feedback. We read your messages and make adjustments that align with our spirit. Your input has shaped our journey, and we rely on your ongoing insights to identify trends that meet your expectations. Then we think of something funny.
We want E@RTC to thrive for another fifteen seasons, but that requires your continued support, guidance, and help in preserving our core values. This post is a reminder that we're here to keep this event growing and ensure it remains a gem of the Pacific Northwest without any of us ending up in the back of a police car. Again.
Fingers crossed for clear skies on the 8th!
