I Can’t Believe We’re…
We can’t wait for opening day!
…a month from opening day of E@RTC!
Welcome to the first blog of our 16th season! I can't believe we've made it this far. I know we say that every year, but this time we really mean it. We thought we'd last sixteen days! Let's not forget that so many of you were in diapers when we started. Some of you are now in diapers again! Ah, the circle of life. When we began sixteen years ago, we were all young and so full of ourselves! Now here we are sixteen years later, buying our laxatives at Costco. We now see doctors more than our friends and have peed in more cups than Robert Downey Jr.
I'll now start posting something every Thursday leading up to our stupendous first rainout on April 5, 2025! The blog will come out at 3 PM every Thursday, just as we have for well over a decade now. I'm still writing the damn thing, as always.
This is going to be another great season with special requests coming in to bring some remarkable cars. We already have our special events calendar up, and we've updated the criteria page for the 2025 season. We'll still be making more changes to the website prior to opening day, but the meat of it is all there.
We've made just a couple of changes to our special events. For one, we're working on a Forza event with those guys, and we'll have more on that coming up as we get closer. They will be rolling out five very special cars just for the event. That will be on May 3, assuming Mother Nature isn't mad at us about something. It will be in our regular lots.
We're not doing a Classic and Collector Day anymore as it wasn't as popular as we thought it would become. The logistics were just too complicated for the return. Yet we are having our Retro Day once again. That was a much bigger hit than we were anticipating. Must have been all the bell-bottoms in them tight shorts.
Some of the usual annual dates had to be moved outside of their usual spot, and this was entirely because of conflicting car events around Puget Sound. We do our best not to interfere with other shows, and hopefully, they extend the same courtesy to us as we all want to have outstanding car events.
We now move cars into our lots much faster than ever before, so opening day should run very smoothly and get you right in. We've come up with a few new tricks that work extremely well.
We are also expecting much larger spectator crowds this year because of how we're going to be promoted by Redmond Town Center. Stay tuned for more about that.
We'd also love to attract a major sponsor that fits our event and our humor. If you have any good ideas that won't bring us shame or get us hogtied in the back of a patrol car somewhere, let us know. We'll consider anything. We don't want to do the small sponsors as we did in the past. We're looking for one big one that fits all of us, so let us know if you have some ideas. Leading up to our opener, we'll refresh you all on some of the behind-the-scenes leading up to that huge opening day you won't want to miss.
