More Updates!
It’s hard to believe that we’re just five weeks away from our first rain-out of the season. Aren’t you excited for that upcoming Thursday post that says "wha-wha"? The only thing good is you get to stay home and Pooh Bear around the house that Saturday and dream of nice weather. We know that most of you Pooh Bear on Zoom calls and imagine your surprise when your workmates uploaded you to “Zoom Fails” with your kibble and bits showing on that vital sales call with your oldest customer.
We got lots of feedback about this year's criteria, which can be found on our Criteria page. If you missed it, take a look. We did add Lancia, and we made a few other minor tweaks after you wrote to us, mostly in Chevy and Porsche. It was all great feedback, but as usual, we receive messages from what have to be kids who come up with silly email names when posting comments. It’s their lack of wittiness and cohesive thought that leads me to believe they are just kids fooling around. I don’t think they realize how easy it is to filter them out. This isn’t a graffiti wall. It’s not that we have to repaint anything. It’s just the delete key. It takes far more time to generate the email.
Some of you get very upset about our criteria and think we should change that criteria just for you. That’s not how this works. We’ve not changed our entrance stance since the day we started, which is why we’ve made it fifteen years. Suddenly, someone comes along who demands that we change for them, and the answer is nope. That would be like demanding Taco Bell at Ivar’s Fish House. It’s not who we are. Actually, it’s more like people demanding McDonald’s serve “healthy meals” that nobody buys. You go to McDonald’s because it’s McDonald’s. You come to E@RTC because it’s E@RTC. You go to Hooters because… never mind.
Okay, this week’s website updates include our new special event calendar for the year. It’s now up and finalized, but again, please comment in case we missed something. We don’t have a lot of flexibility on the dates each year because of conflicting events, combined with RTC’s own schedule and other activities around the Pacific Northwest. We’ve had people contact us about changing dates just because they had plans that day. We’re not kidding. There were also times when we tried to accommodate some collectors who agreed to the dates, but when they didn’t hold the dates as agreed, we stopped. When we saw that they ultimately didn’t impact turnout, we decided to stop chasing everyone’s schedule and just give it our overall best shot.
For the Fresnoans, our special events are the days when we also use the center of the mall. This isn’t tough to grasp. We have maps up to make it easier to understand than why you live in Fresno in the first place.
We do love reading your comments on Facebook about anything on your mind as it does tell us a bit about what matters to you. The goal is always the best possible show that draws the right audience and participants every week, all summer long, for those who are confused about special events.
